A panel exhibition commemorating the 95th birthday of RAF deck gunner and soldier of the 11th Infantry Regiment - East Karl Stanislav Otta, a native of Mnichovo Hradiště. The 17 panels depict the fate of Czechoslovak airmen, members of the RAF and their squadrons, from 30. From the beginning of their careers, through the occupation of Czechoslovakia, dangerous departures abroad, the persecution of their family members, fighting in Poland, France, the Middle East and the struggle for life in the USSR, Czechoslovak squadrons in the RAF, the return to the liberated homeland, communist persecution and today's re-membering through memorials, books, films, etc. The exhibition also includes the fate of some of the airmen during the Second World War, such as the one-legged airman, a man who survived six days on a lifeboat in the January sea, and the fate of women who served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF), some victims of communism and natives of Lidice, members of the RAF who could not and were not allowed to return home after the war. The exhibition contains many documents and photographs from family archives, so you will see them for the first time. Last year the exhibition was presented in the UK, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the formation of most of the Czechoslovak squadrons in the RAF.
