I tried to find more information on the genealogy page and also a translation of my great-grandfather's military tribal record who served in the 25th Regiment of the Kromeriz. I was recommended to this site. I as a layman would be glad for any information and idea regarding the unit where he did his military service, what it was like at that time, what his job was, who was in command, what kind of people he had around him, how he might have felt etc.
No photo of him survived, but I found a period photo of "25th Zem.pesiho regiment Kromeriz 1914" here on the web. However, he himself died in hospital in December 1914.
He had his 5th child in November 1914, which he therefore never saw. Even my family still does not know when, under what conditions and where he died.
His birth certificate (attached)listed Catholic, farmer, Johann Vykroutil - born 1880 in Vnorovy, okr. Hodonin, was conscripted in Kroměříž (Kremsier) on 31.3.1903 - for 12 years - (decided by lot No. 139). Landwehr-infanterie-regiment Nr.25 - Land-Grenadier Infantry Regiment - "LIR-25" - enlisted 1.10.1903
brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, sharp nose, small mouth, oval chin, oval face, then probably something with knee, but neprectu. He was vaccinated and spoke and wrote only Czech. He was 173.5 cm tall and a class 2 foot size
