04.04.2016 - Norsko: Netradiční záchrana pacienta

The patient in the hospital in the Norwegian Bodø save the non-traditional transportation needed a special device.

The patient, whose condition worsened, he needed for his survival device, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation – ECMO, a machine for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). But in the hospital, or in nearby facilities, was not available. The nearest available was in the hospital Sv. Olav in a remote Trondheim. Fortunately, the doctor thought to ask for help 338. squadron (338 Squadrons) based at the base in Ørlandu. There were prepared two F-16's to the practice flight at the airport Rygge in Moss. One of them had even podvěšen container for transporting cargo, which had sufficient capacity for the transport of the device, which is not usual. While the machines were preparing for departure, the helicopter was an air ambulance with the device on the way from Trondheim to Ørlandu. Shortly after his landing, took off with the laden device, F-16 and after 25 minutes had already landed in Bodø. Thanks to a happy concatenation of circumstances, so the device got to the patient for 40 minutes.

This is the first time the machine was F-16 used by the Norwegian air force as an air ambulance. They are normally used by larger machines like C-130 Hercules or Dassault DA-20 Falcon.
