Modification for the transport of artillery ammunition for self-propelled assault cannons Sturmgeschütz III . This vehicle was created as a replacement for a special modification Sd.Kfz.252 .


There were two versions of this ammunition vehicle, whose primary function was to supply ammunition with assault cannons StuG III :
The Ausf.A version was used to transport ammunition to StuK 37 L / 24 cannons. The stockpile of ammunition carried was 70 rounds.
The Ausf.B version was used to transport ammunition to StuK 40 L / 43 and L / 48 cannons. The stockpile of ammunition carried was 60 rounds.


In the secret manual D97 / 1 + from 1.7.1943, up to four modifications of the leichter Munitionspanzerwagen (Sd.Kfz.250 / 6) Ausf.A bis D are listed. Information on Ausf.C and Ausf.D versions is not available. The version was probably no longer produced and probably only a small number of vehicles were created. They were produced only on the older design version Sd.Kfz.250 Ausf.A ("Alt").


The crew consisted of two people. The armament consisted of personal weapons of the crew and one machine gun MG 34 , later MG 42 caliber 7.92 mm with a supply of 1100 rounds, which could be mounted in both preserved mounts. The connecting equipment consisted of a radio station Fu 16 (Fu 16 SE 10 U) designed for communication with StuG assault guns. An ammunition cart could be attached behind the vehicle, thus rapidly increasing the stockpile of ammunition carried.
