9M714 (9М714)
Operational-taltical missile complex 9K714 Oka (NATO code SS-23 Spider). It is designed to destroy important objects in the tactical and operational depth of an adversary's battle formation.
The missile has inertial guidance, with the missile itself being relational only during the active phase of flight. Flight corrections are made by aerodynamic surfaces and thrusters, with power provided by the missile's flight engine. Propulsion of the rocket is provided by a single-chamber solid rocket engine operating in two modes (launch and flight engine). Unlike some older rockets, there is no need to point the rocket towards the target during launch; its control system allows the rocket to be guided within +/- 90° of the original launch vector during the active phase of flight.
