Department of biological protection is used to a comprehensive security of biological protection of the CZECH army. Its main tasks are:
- isolation of carriers of hazardous diseases and the prevention of the risk of the spread of the disease in the rest of the population;
- identification of the type of disease, establishing an accurate diagnosis, the design and the adoption of subsequent measures, in particular in the field of prevention;
- treatment of affected persons;
- biological defense research.

Part of the Department of biological protection is a specialized infectious diseases hospital for isolation and treatment of persons with particularly dangerous and exotic infections at the level of the degree of bio-security BSL 3 and BSL 4 (Biosafety Level 3, 4) with laboratories for diagnostics of selected biological agents. Provides izolačně-quarantine capacity for the examination of the soldiers after their return from foreign missions..
