Emil Strankmüller was born 26. February 1902 in Vienna Emil Strankmüllerovi and his wife Paula, née Gutejlové. High school first studied in Vienna, then in prague's Royal Vinohrady. Here at the grammar school first attended class with German teaching language, but in 1918 he transferred to the class Czech. Studies of the grammar school, where he graduated in 1922.

In march of the same year he was drafted by the prague doplňovacím the district headquarters, and in October presented by the infantry regiment 26, where he was from but ordered to the Military academy in the Borders. After his graduation he joined the artillery application school in Olomouc. He then served as an officer in the artillery regiment 51 in the same city, in the Kostelec nad Labem and stara Boleslav. In September 1928 he was appointed deputy commander of the coupling of the platoon, and in January 1929 included in the rate of the coupling of service for officers of all arms. Followed by a jumper course at the artillery school at the Swim Base. After his graduation he was transferred to the the main artillery regiment 151 in Prague, which also took over the function of the deputy commander of the coupling of the platoon. In October 1931 he was called to study at the High school war. He graduated from it in October 1934 and then joined the headquarters of the 8. divise in the Borders, where he worked as the head 2. and 4. department. In the following year he was assigned to the the Earth's military headquarters in Prague in the function of the head of the news department staff 1. army corps. In September 1937 he was transferred to the the Ministry of national defense, where he was appointed head of the offensive section of the search group 2. department of the army headquarters.

14. in march 1939 he flew at the last minute within a group of czechoslovak intelligence, headed by colonel Moravec to Great Britain. Here he became deputy head of the czechoslovak intelligence exchanges. In the autumn of 1939 performed intelligence tasks in Sweden, in the spring of 1940, then in Yugoslavia, and the Netherlands. In the summer he participated in the evacuation of czechoslovak troops from France. Passed and a number of other countries. From September 1941 he served until 1944 in the function of the head 1. department, offensive intelligence II. the department of MNO. He then became the head of the 2. department of the main headquarters of the czechoslovak military power. In this capacity, in June 1945 he returned to his homeland.

Shortly after he was assigned to headquarters Military region 2 in the Camp as the head 1. the department of staff. In October 1946 he was transferred in the rank of colonel on the headquarters Military region 1 in Prague, where he held the same function. In mid-1947 became the provisional head of the 8. department of the army headquarters. From October 1948 he was officially retired for health reasons, in fact, however, the pressure of the Frederick Reicina. Shortly thereafter, he was arrested and in 1951 placed into a forced labour camp. At the same time he was deprived of military rank.

After returning from prison he worked in the stara Boleslav as a sanitation worker, later as a janitor. In the 60's. years has been partly rehabilitated. He wrote two works dealing with the czechoslovak offensive news coverage in the period of the First republic and the German occupation. In 1981, he was struck by stroke. He died 28. February 1988 in the Sand. He was married and had a son and a daughter.

28. October 1992, he was promoted to the rank of major general in memoriam.
