Production of the prototype took place in Romania at CNIAR Bacau, where they built the hull and conducted the installation, IRMA Bucharest added wing and ICA Brasov the control surfaces. The yugoslav prototype built Soko in Mostar with the help of the company Utva of Pančeva.
Serial production was divided between the two countries - the front part of the fuselage built a race IAv Craiova, which
also performed final assembly of all IAR-93. Utva Pančevo built the rear part of the fuselage and wings, Soko Mostar wings, rudder and horizontal tail surfaces and perform the final assembly of the J-22.
An indication of the 165 IAR-93 and J-22 probably comes from orders, due to the outbreak of the civil war in Yugoslavia, but production ended in both countries prematurely.
