Operational-tactical complexes R-170 were introduced as the first nuclear means of the ČSĽA ground forces.
Between 1961 and 1963, 21 sets were imported, which served in heavy artillery brigades of all-army armies and in training units.
The complex included:
- crawler chassis 8U218,
- unguided rocket 8K11 for liquid fuel with a range of 60 to 170 km.
