SOV - S-300PT (5Ž15) [kód NATO: SA-10A Grumble]

S-300PT (transportable) - the first variant of the system adopted into service in 1978. The individual parts of the system are mounted on wheeled semi-trailers pulled by Ural 375 and KrAZ 255 tractor-trailers. The system was armed with 5V55 missiles (developed by the design bureau "FAKEL" (Moscow).
The missiles are fired vertically from a shipping and launching container, in which the missiles can be stored for up to 10 years at a time. The rocket is launched by a so-called cold launch, when the rocket is ejected from the container by means of a powder catapult to a height of 20 m, deploying the control aerodynamic surfaces. The gas thrusters set the rocket on the correct course based on the autopilot's instructions, and then the single-stage solid rocket motor is ignited and the rocket is guided to the target.
Different variants of the 5V55 missile are used in the S-300PT anti-aircraft system, differing in the guidance system used. Traditional radio-guidance was used on the 5V55K and 5V55KD missiles, while the 5V55R missile was guided to the target by self-guidance. The maximum range of the 5V55K missile is 47 km, the 5V55R missile has a range of 75 km.
