In 1937, the Škoda company built a prototype of a tank with a rotating tower, which according to plans was to form the armament of mixed reconnaissance units ( S mixed P reconnaissance O parts) of fast divisions. The prototype was based on the construction of an assault cannon Škoda Š-I-D. The armament of the tank was to consist of a large-caliber machine gun ZB-60 caliber 15 mm, which, however, was in development and was therefore replaced in the prototype by a model. The secondary armament was to consist of a heavy machine gun ZB vz.35.
The prototype underwent factory tests, which showed deficiencies in the design in the form of inappropriate vehicle stability and low top speed. The prototype was offered to a foreign client (Afghanistan), who required a light tank, but he had different requirements, which this prototype did not meet. Since no one was interested in the prototype, it was canceled in 1938 and its components were used in the conversion to a towerless tank Škoda Š-IP, designed at the request of an Afghan client.
