Terrell before the war slúžil in Teritoriálnej army, konkréntne in the Regiment Královskích strelcov the city of London (Royal Fusiliers (City of London) Regiment (TA)), where dosahije the rank of War Substantive captain and 1942 sa dobrovlne reporting to Parašutistickému regiment.

In August 1942 získava parašutistickú kvalifikáciu and he's zverené velenie And company 3. skydiving battalion during operácie Torch in Severnej Afrike.

Terrell is in the year 1943 pridelený to 8. parašutistickému battalion. At the battalion slúži as a company commander And it is in charge during the campaign in Normandy up to who's not injured in August 1944.

Terrell after vyliečení slúži ako štábny dôstojník 6. výsadkovej divízie during the crossing over the Rhine and during the last days of the war in Germany. Two times is zmienený in the news during the campaign in severozápadnej Europe in 1944-45.

After vojne, in may 1947 again voluntarily enters the armed forces Teritoríalnej army. Nasledovného year is podplukovníkom and velitelom 11. skydiving battalion Teritoriálnej army. In time prevzatia units pa accounted to 45 mužov and during his velenia to 1953 sa rozrástla to 600 mužov. During tohto obdobia for his services he certificate awarded BOTH.

In 1953 is pridelený to 16. výsadkovej divízie Teritoriálnej army ako older štábny dôstojník and this post zastáva up to rozpustenia divízie in 1956. After this period it is nezaradený and becomes sa colonel until retirement in 1960.

In civilnom life he worked as a lawyer and in 1965 sa is menovaný poradcom HM Královnej.

In rokoch 1971-1972 viedol Liberálnu side.
