Supreme allied commander in Europe (SACEUR) Philip Breedlove urges Turkey to purchased a missile defense system, which will be compatible with the other systems of the Alliance. His words so to further increase the pressure on Ankara to reconsider its decision to purchase the system from the chinese corporation CPMIEC.
Turkey in September announced that it is considering purchase of the chinese missile defence system FD-2000. On CPMIEC is subject to U.S. sanctions because of the supply of arms to Iran, DPRK and Syria. Breedlove further warned that all NATO members have to contribute to the collective defense of the Alliance and to choose equipment that will work together with other systems of NATO.
