| The division was created on April 28, 1937 on the Aragonese front. She was assigned to the Eastern Army reserves. Her headquarters were in Siétam. After the dissolution of the 29th Division, it was replaced by the 31st Division and moved to cover the sector in Huesca. In August 1937, one of her brigades, the 134th, took part in the offensive in Zaragoza. In March 1938, after the launch of Frank's offensive on the Aragonese front, the 31st Division was forced to retreat in the face of enemy superiority. However, this retreat turned into an escape of their forces, which spread to small groups. This retreat also left unprotected the southern wing of the 43rd Division, which ended in its siege in the Pyrenees. Based on these facts, the command of the Republican Forces decided to dissolve the 31st Division. |
