RL-4AS

Citace :

The RL-4AS surveillance radar is designed for reconnaissance of airborne targets and to secure active air defence assets. It intercepts air targets and identifies their coordinates (azimuth and slant range). It is used to track targets over terrain (with strong reflections from ground objects), in adverse weather conditions (clouds, snow, rain) and during intentional jamming

Two-channel surveillance radar manufactured by TESLA Pardubice.
Primarily used as an airfield surveillance radar, it was capable of cooperating in the generation of complex information for landing guidance.
However, it was also frequently used in radar units.
In its original version, without digital processing of the output information, it was not capable of automatic target tracking.

From my own experience, I can positively evaluate the high reliability, stability of setting and high speed of transition from "stand by" to "on" mode.

Basic parameters.

Max range 200 km
Pulse power 2 x 850kW
Survey mode 6 or 12 antenna rotations per minute
Beam switching capability
Polarizer to suppress reflections from clouds
Operation in aperture mode, stationary object suppression mode or mixed mode
Suppression of reflections from ground objects implemented using an ultrasonic delay line (worked fantastic)
Possible antenna tilt from -2° to +2°

The most common composition of the kit:
Antenna unit
Instrument container "A"
Indicating container "F"
2 x CSAD 30 power pack
Tatra 148 special vehicle with extended body for transporting the antenna unit (operation is also possible directly from the body of the vehicle)
another Tatra 148 vehicle
two lifts with hydraulic equipment for EC loading (usually types A-10 or PV-24-18)

Containers could be loaded on the tugs by means of a lifting device in the kit.
Also included in the kit was a camping kit for field operations including a cooker and of course a ZIP kit

So much off the top of my head. If there is any question hopefully I will remember more details.
