Pistol vz. 45
History:
The vz. 45 pistol was created under the direction of Jan Kratochvil, based on the vz. 36 pistol. It was intended primarily for personal protection and in the 1980s it was still used by members of the traffic police (then VB).
Construction:
The vz. 45 is a pistol with a dynamic breech and double-action-only trigger (DAO). The gun is not equipped with a manual safety or a slide catch. There is a magazine catch in the magazine well which, when the magazine is removed, breaks the trigger pull contact with the hammer.
Changes from the Model 36:
- simplified trigger mechanism with lower trigger resistance,
- one hinge tooth on the barrel (the vz. 36 had two),
- lack of manual safety (however, some Model 36s did not have it),
- magazine safety,
- sidewall covering the trigger mechanism.

Manufacture:
The vz. 45 pistol was produced in the Czech Armoury Strakonice from January 1946 until 1952, when production was moved to Uherský Brod, but production did not start there and only in 1961-1962 a small series was produced.
The series of production numbers starts from 35000. In each year the following numbers of vz.45 pistols were produced in Strakonice:
- 1946: 5.100 pcs.
- 1947: 32.561 pcs.
- 1948: 18.541 pcs.
- 1951: 23.885 pcs.
- 1952: 15.409 pcs
Markings:
The vz. 45 pistols were marked on the left side of the breech:
CZECH ZBROJOVKA
NATIONAL COMPANY
STRAKONICE
In 1952 the marking was changed to:
ČESKÁ ZBROJOVKA - PRAHA

As far as I remember, the Police Museum in Prague actually states that it was armed by members of the DI VB.
My own experience: the feeder is a rather "flimsy" part, it is an L-shaped sheet metal and therefore tends to lift the front edge higher under the pressure of the buckling. This leads to a poor introduction of the cartridge into the chamber, as the bottom of the cartridge is deeper than it should be. Thus, it can easily happen that when the slide is pulled to the rear position, it remains there. When trying to coax the pistol, the cartridge was - among other things thanks to the DAO system - introduced into the chamber and immediately fired! The same happened when I cocked the pistol more forcefully.

As far as I know, were this gun armed members of the traffic control (at intersections - in Prague named OŘD). Patrols traffic surveillance should be normal ČZ vz.50, but in white envelopes.
The claim that the ČZ vz.45 was in service with the Stb, I consider it amusing (from where stems this information)?
However, it is true that in general a pistol of this caliber (but mostly DUO, had a softer trigger) as the personal - private gun taking almost every cop and wear it in civilian clothes, probably this information came from.
