The vehicle is designed for recon units (recon platoon, mechanized and light motorized battalion) mechanized brigade of the light and of mixed type for the implementation of the survey in favor of a mechanized brigade, to lead the combat activities of the lafetovaných weapons; for recon units (recon platoon) destined to the implementation of the combat of the survey and to the leadership of combat activities of the lafetovaných weapons in the great depth of the enemy battle formation; to transport explorers - specialists (the recon squad) under armor protection into the area of the survey; for the immediate implementation of reconnaissance, combat and other tasks in a mechanized brigade of the light and of mixed type.

Reconnaissance equipment allows ground surveillance of the battlefield day and night and in difficult visibility. It consists of:
- integrated reconnaissance system IPzS
- radar Squire
- a profitable system of remote sensing SDPz

IPzS consists of a sensory head and pull the mast ensuring the gun arc 360° and the elevation angle of -60° to + 60°. Sensor head contains:
- an overview of the TV camera MERLIN 2
- sighting TV camera HK-170
- thermal imaging camera LIRC 640
- laser distance meter LDM 38
- inertial/GPS navigation unit TALLINN 3000

Radar Squire can detect a moving person at distances up to 10 km, small all-terrain vehicle at 15 km, flying the helicopter at 14 km, and driving a tank or other vehicle with a comparable radar cross-up to 24 km.

SDPz is used in situations where it is not possible or advantageous to make use of the whole vehicle, or when a fault occurs or damage to the IPzS. The composition is derived from the system for the surveillance and monitoring of the SOM 5 intended for the Military police. The device consists of a sensor head (elevation angle of -40° to + 40°), the terminal operator, the transmission route and the source system. Sensor head contains:
- an overview of the TV camera MERLIN 2
- TV camera FEATURE-36
- thermal imaging camera ThermoVision Integrator 5-20UC
- laser rangefinder LRF-5K
- system of detection and indication of laser irradiation

Enterprise testing of the prototype KBV-PZLOK began in April 2011. Subsequent control tests were scheduled for August and September 2011. In the last quarter of the same year should be conducted troop tests test series (2 pieces). For the needs of the Army of the Czech republic purchased a total of eight vehicles KBV-PZLOK. Seven cars were delivered in 2012 for an amount of 870 657 642 Czk, the remaining specimen followed in 2013 for the sum of 127 924 326 Usd. The most striking conclusion in the framework of the strengthening of the alliance's deterrence capability and the defence was the decision of the NATO summit in Warsaw in July 2016 for the deployment of four nato multinational battle group in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland in the framework of the so-called Enhanced forward presence (enhanced Forward Presence, eFP). It lies in the permanent presence of multinational battle group NATO member states on the basis of the reinforced mechanized battalions (about 1000 and more persons) in the baltic states and in Poland. The activity of each martial group controls and the responsibility for their construction and lasting fulfillment carry the head of the country, which are also the largest providers of manpower and resources. The leading country in the battle groups will operate in the long term, the other allies then they will be militarily contribute to the voluntary principle and the rotary way. The leading countries for Estonia is the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Germany, Canada, Latvia and the USA for Poland. The head of the country called on the allies to provide national military contributions to the cluster. The first units of the eFP have been stationed in the baltic states at the beginning of 2017 with the fact that operational capability will be achieved by mid-June 2017.
