Išikawadžima R-3[/heading]

Japanese designer Shiro Jošihara under the supervision of the German designer dr. Lachmanna started work on a new prototype of an airplane for the army air force. The aircraft was marked Išikawadžima R-3 and during its construction it was used the experience with the previous prototype Išikawadžima R-2, the first prototype of the R-3 was completed in September 1929. This aircraft is considered the first purely japanese design practice of the machine (I don't know how far dr. Lachmann in the development of interfering). Compared to the original practice of R-2 carried the R-3 many of the design improvements, the dragon was more resilient and the japanese licence-engine Cirrus used to give sufficient power.
A total of was built five aircraft Išikawadžima R-3 and four of them were equipped with the experimentally fitted with automatic křídelními slots, their installation is the work of dr. Lachmanna, who was the holder of the patent on the automatic slots type of Gottingen 591 and judged them with the company Handley Page.
Aircraft Išikawadžima R-3 should handle even air acrobatics and represented the japanese equivalent to the british aeroplane the de Havilland Gipsy Moth. Japanese army air force, however, has rejected these machines include as their training aircraft, the two aircraft that took over, the Italian later the company Nihon Gakusei Koku Remmei and here the aircraft flew with the matriculation J-BDEA and J-BDEB. The third aircraft used company Išikawadžima with the designation J-BDED, the fourth was purchased by the print group Asahi Shimbun, there was marked as the Asahi Well. 52 and finally, the fifth machine, the company has bought the Kaibo Gikai, here was designated as the Giyu no. 10 and subsequently the company has devoted a student of the league and here he flew with the matriculation J-BEPB. This aircraft became probably the best known of all five produced, was named the Seinen Nihon-go and conducted a series of flights around the european countries. Interesting was for example flying to Europe via Siberia (05.1931), the aircraft visited Harbin in the northeast of China, Moscow, Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris, Marseille and Rome. For this series of flights has been adjusted, the hull was installed additional fuel tank and the takeoff weight was 930 kg. In the following year was with this machine made several long flights on the route of Japan – China.
