SOV - 1V14 (velitelské stanoviště)

The Battery Commander's Vehicle 1V14 (VVB) is a mobile battery command and observation post. It is designed to reconnoiter and direct the battery's fire in close coordination with motorized artillery and tank units during combat.


The VVB operates in the combat formation of a supported artillery (tank) unit and is positioned near the command and observation position (CPP) of the artillery (tank) unit in a location that allows for battlefield observation, reconnaissance, fire control, and vehicle camouflage.

The VVB provides the solution to these tasks
:


- Reconnaissance of the enemy and terrain,
- Determining the coordinates of own position and orientation bearings,
- determining the coordinates of targets,
- firing and correcting fire,
- maintaining liaison with the superior artillery commander, subordinate and supported unit commanders.


1V14 vehicle equipment :


(a) Reconnaissance and observation instruments : laser rangefinder 1D8, combined observation instrument 1PN44, stereoscopic rangefinder DS-1, tank observation instruments TNPO-170, coordinate converter 1T804, radiation and chemical reconnaissance instruments GO-27,


(b) Instruments for topographic-geodetic connection and orientation :1G-121-1, gyroscopic compass 1G-25-1, rangefinder DSP-30, buzzer PAB-2AM.


(c) Communications equipment : VHF rdst R-123 3 pcs, R-111, R-130M, R-107, call equipment 1T-80 3M, field tlf. exchange P-19M, 2 pcs field telephone TA-57, 3 coils TK-2 of 500 m tlf. cable P-274M,


(d) Instruments for determination of firing elements : PUO-9M, instrument for determination of aggregate repairs,


e) Means of protection : filter-ventilation, hot-air, decontamination,


f) Sources of electrical voltage : power pack, generator GIV-8/6000, batteries,


g) Armament : RPG-7VN + 5 rounds, 7.62 mm PKMB machine gun.


The combat activity of the VVB is directed by the detachment commander.

Artillery battery commander's vehicle based on the MT-LBu. Part of the 1V12 Machine system.


The 1V14 vehicles were assigned to artillery detachments of the Czechoslovak People's Army equipped with 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers.
