Faun SLT 50-3 Elefant

SLT 50-3 Elephant

Heavy off-road tractor. This is a modernization of the type SLT 50-2 Elefant, which took place between 1994 and 2000. A total of 324 vehicles were modified .

The modernization of these tractors was forced by the arrival of a new, even heavier generation of Leopard 2 tanks. In order to guarantee their transportability, the existing fleet of Elefant tractors had to be modernized. In addition to minor differences in the SLT 50-3 version from the older SLT 50-2, the modernization program was fundamentally reflected in the power unit, which now consists of a twelve-cylinder Deutz MWM TBD 234. The increase in vehicle performance has now made it possible to use the new 59 ton low loaders 59 t Tieflader mil.
