Habala

Habala is a small mountain village in the province of 'Asir in Saudi Arabia. Its original population was a tribal community of "flower people," called so by the habit of wearing in my hair dried flowers. The village was previously available only after the rope ladders; Habala means in Arabic "rope".

In the nineties of the last century was in the context of promoting tourism to built a cable car, providing access to the village and its impressive mountain views. As a result, were local people dispossessed of their homes; and should be moved to the modern village, built for that purpose in the valley. When they refused, moved is the violence of the saudi arabian national guard. Today they have some of the population again to the village approach, but only in the summer months to be able to tourists showing off their traditional dance..
