Mitsubishi A6M3 32
零戦 / Reisen / Hamp, Hap later Zero

History:
The aircraft was based on the requirement of the maritime air force which demanded the simplification of handling on board aircraft carriers and another goal was to increase performance. The adjustment was simply: have been removed trailing car the arches of the wings, unfortunately, at the same time, there was a reduction of stocks of fuel, which was carried in the wings. Higher performance to ensure the new engine Nakajima Sakae 21. Installation of this engine however, the forced displacement of the fire wall towards the back, it has shrunk the space for trupovou the fuel tank and its volume has shrunk by 38 l (now 60 l). Such a reduction of the capacity of the fuel tanks and the higher consumption of the engine Sakae 21, that were the causes of the fact that Zero has lost one of its merits - a very long range and performance is also too much improved.
Wing with a smaller margin showed a slightly lowered ceiling and the smaller risers, improved maneuverability when flying in the lower altitudes and higher speeds of flight. It is necessary to mention that increased the supply of ammunition carried for the cannon, originally, Zero was sixty shells in the drum tray and from this version was carried by one hundred shells for each cannon.
The allies with this version they started to see each other over the Solomon islands in October 1942, and their intelligence service was behind it, that this is a completely new type and so I was assigned this aircraft the code name Hap, against that he protested the then lieutenant general Arnold, because it was his nickname, the name of the new aircraft was changed to Hamp. In December 1942 he was one aircraft is acquired in New Guinea and during his inspection it was found that this is a version of it known under the name Zeke.
Great distance from Rabaul over Solomon islands led to the loss of many of the new fighters, which ended during the return flight in the sea, therefore, the Kaigun Koku Hombu called for an increase in range, the factory Mitsubishi Jukogyo K. To. therefore, the wing backward equips end-to-end reclining arches and between the beams the wings, the outside of the design team cannon adds the fuel tank 45 l. These two tanks to extend range of 160 kilometres, This model is labeled as the A6M3 22.
A total of was made by 343 aircraft A6M3 32 and 560 aircraft A6M3 22.
