The U.S. Coast Guard's Aérospatiale MH-65C Dolphin crashed during a training flight in Mobile Bay near Point Clear. The search team found one of the crew members on the spot, but unfortunately he died after being transported to the hospital. Three other helicopter crew members are missing.
Two MH-65C helicopters from the New Orleans Coast Guard Air Station (New Orleans, LA), two boats from the Dauphin Island Coast Guard Station, Cobia and Stingray from Mobile , the HC-144A Ocean Sentry from Mobile Station (Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile), two TANB boats from Mobile, the Andelae landing craft and the Solomon merchant vessel that reported the accident.
Other police, fire and rescue teams are also taking part in the search.
