USA - AN/MPN - přehled verzí (radiolokační přistávací systém)

AN/MPN - general version (ground landing radar system / GCA)
The AN/MNP-xx Landing Control Set was the most common type, used since the 1950s for several decades at military (and civilian) airports of NATO countries.
It was referred to as GCA / Ground-controlled approach, in civilian terminology (ICAO) as PAR / Precision approach radar

Probably the 1st post-war "combat" deployment was in securing the "air bridge" to Berlin (from 23 June 1948 to 12 May 1949 at Tempelhof and Tegel airports).

The basis was the 1st "post-war" version - AN/CPN-4 and its modifications AN/CPN-4A, AN/CPN-4B.

The GCA kit consisted of:
1.a) Surveillance Radar(Airport Surveillance Radar / ASR)
- Frequency band: 2780 - 2820 MHz (10 cm)

1.b) Radio Direction Finding Kit (Direction-Finding-equipment)

2.a) Precision Approach Radar (Precision Approach Radar / PAR)
- Frequency band: 9000 - 9160 MHz (3 cm)

3. Radio communication equipment
- portable radios
- for the HF/HF band (1,5 - 18,0) Mc/s (MHz)
- for the VHF/VHF band (100 - 156) Mc/s (MHz)
- for the UKV/UHF band (225 - 399,9) Mc/s (MHz)

4. Power supplies, cooling and accessories

The equipment was mostly mounted in 2 double-axle trailers.

A number of very similar versions and modifications have been produced. They differed, for example, by the different type of trailer, a number of minor design changes to the control panels, changes and number of indicators, type of radios, antennas, etc.

Versions used:
1. AN/MPN-11 (AN/MPN-11A, AN/MPN-11B, AN/MPN-11C, AN/MPN-11D)
2. AN/MPN-13
3. AN/MPN-14; (AN/MPN-14K);
3.a) AN/MPN-14 RAPCON - including landing system control centre - flight control
4. AN/MPN-15
5. AN/MPN-16 (AN/MPN-16 RAPCON)
