Zvolen, Central War Cemetery of the Soviet Army - World War II.
The cemetery is located on the northern outskirts of the town of Zvolen, part of Sarvaška, under the Zlatý potok housing estate in close proximity to the cemetery of the Romanian Royal Army and the town cemetery.
17,682 Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Slovakia are buried in the cemetery, from seventeen districts of the Central Slovak region. It is the largest cemetery of Soviet soldiers killed in World War II on the territory of Slovakia.
The construction of the cemetery, which was carried out under the leadership of Commander Vicha, was aided by the Soviet government in cooperation with the Education Commissariat and local citizens. The cemetery was in need of total reconstruction. This renovation is currently in progress.
