Lofotské war museum is the largest international exhibition of uniforms and smaller objects from the second world war. The museum shows the dramatic events of these lands from the years 1940-1945.
The museum houses many rare and yet elsewhere unpublished photographs. The museum consists of five rooms, which are literally just packed with dummies in uniforms, weapons, paintings, photographs and many other items. Of weapons is seen here as: MP 40, MP 44, MG 42, Sten gun, Thompson, Ppsh and many other small arms. Located here also several artifacts from the sunken Tirpitze or Scharnhorstu. The whole museum complement the painted images of dramatic events. Fight on Lofotech and overall in the north of the Norwegian mainland are a bit outside of the main information stream and the museum is definitely a very good closer.
The museum is located in the town of Svolvær on the Lofotech, which is directly on the main road E10.
Opening hours: mon - Sat from 10.00 to 22.00; Sunday 12.00 to 15.00 and from 18.00 to 22.00
Admission: 60 NOK (about 180 Rubles in the summer of 2011, Norway is generally everywhere expensive)
