The Infanterie-Regiment Großdeutschland was formed in 1933 from the Wachregiment Berlin and on 15 September 1939 this special uniform with "preußische Litzen" on the Waffenrock tabs and cuffs was introduced. After the outbreak of the war this uniform was no longer issued.

Interesting is the cap with the label above the uniform - it is a cap for the Uffz./Mannsch. cavalry (golgelbe Waffenfarbe) with the so-called "Schwedter Adler", worn in memory of the 1st Uffz. Bradenburgische Dragoner-Regiment 2 initially (1933) 2nd and 6th Schwadron of Reiterregiment 6, later other units were allowed to wear this badge.
The badge was GOLD for all ranks, and was worn between the cockade and the Hoheitsabzeichen, even on boats (Feldmütze).
