In the tightly fragmented industrial production of armoured vehicles in Germany, a programme was initiated by Oberbaurat Kniepkamp (chief civilian advisor to WaPrüf 6 on automotive design) to develop new armoured fighting vehicles, the different categories of which were to use common, unified parts. The "E - Entwicklungsfahrzeug" project was proposed in 5/1942, approved for implementation in 4/1943.

The design of the 25-ton tank fighter project was won by Argus Werke in Karlsruhe (project leader Dr. Klaue). As part of the unification of parts, the E-25 project used a number of components from the E-10 project. The company Zahnradfabrik-Friedrichshafen started work on the new semi-automatic transmission on July 1, 1944, and work was completed in early 1945. Plans called for the assembly of the Maybach HL 100 (V-12) engine, which was subsequently to be replaced by the Maybach HL 101 (the HL 100 may have been intended for prototypes, the HL 101 for production machines). The vehicle was to run on tracks about 700 mm wide.
The Oberbaurat Kniepkamp stated in his testimony to the Allied Commission that the three E-25 hulls were to be manufactured by Alkett Berlin-Spandau. In a critical situation, German industry was unable to complete any of the prototypes.

Diskuse

I would like to know about the armament in this case, was the kwk42 7.5cm L/70 cannon planned, but I read somewhere on the forum that there was supposed to be a more modern kwk44 7.5cm L/76 cannon with a higher penetration which was to be fitted to the planned Panther ausf.F? It was supposed to be made in PLZNIA in Skodovka
Does anybody have more info.

In the source listed in the table is a drawing of a vehicle for which the armament is listed as PaK L/70, with a note that information on what weapon was to be fitted to the production vehicle has not been found and has probably not been determined.
As far as I know the Kw.K.44/1 of the Panther F did not have a 76 calibre long barrel, it was just a modified Kw.K.42 L/70 (the hammer was modified to fit the narrow Schmallturm.
