NATO spokesman Wing Cmdr Mike Bracken announced that the NATO command centre in Naples lost contact with the drone at 0720 GMT. The information was given after Libyan state television showed pictures of the wreckage, which they believe to be the remains of a downed Apache. Bracken stressed that no attack helicopter was lost. The unmanned helicopter was conducting reconnaissance over Libya. The type of machine was not specified, but experts estimate from pictures that it is an MQ-8 Fire Scout manufactured by Northrop Grumman.
