The 80-year-old Kauai veteran received the Distinguished Service Cross, America's highest award for valor. Former Army Technical Sgt. Shinyei "Rocky" Matayoshi received his award last week at the Pentagon Hall of Heroes. He was decorated for action on Mount Belvedere in Italy on April 7, 1945.
