The US will face cyberwarfare, CIA chief Leon Panetta, who is expected to become the new US defence secretary in July, warned the US Senate Armed Services Committee. The committee has invited him to be heard as a nominee for the new US defence secretary.
"The next Pearl Harbor could be a very well-led cyber attack that cripples our energy systems, our grid, our security systems, our financial systems and our government systems," Panetta said.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization wants to build a task force called Cyber Red Team to detect cyber attacks. According to C3 expert Luca Dandurand, the team will "make a significant contribution to improving the Alliance's cyber security defence capabilities".
U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn is meeting with NATO and European Union officials in Europe to discuss enhancing cybersecurity capabilities. NATO member states' statesmen committed to the development of an alliance cyber policy at a summit in Lisbon in November.
