Disadvantages include high failure rates, poor winter starting, high temperature loads. This is likely to be eliminated because newer and larger versions of the 6TD engine are offered in the new T-72 and T-84 tanks.
Personally, I think that the tax on dimensions is too high. Although I do not need a cylinder head, but it is not complicated for a two-stroke, but I need two crankshafts, which complicates installation, lubrication, etc. Thanks to trying to overheat saved by a smaller engine or a more powerful radiator fan that takes more of the engine's power.
