The Czechoslovak army did not show interest in this machine gun because of the expected introduction of a new more modern machine gun known as the vz. 23/25. Less than 11,000 were produced on the basis of an order from the Egyptian army, but the contract did not materialise for political reasons. Only about 250 pieces were delivered to the police force in Bolivia, and the fate of most of these weapons is still not precisely known. Some sources indicate that they were also in the LM forces' arsenal, but this is highly unlikely.
However, a certain number of vz. 247 submachine guns (500-600 in total) were included in the 60s and still in the first half of the 70s in the LM units, where they served in the various border companies and training centres for training border patrols and service dogs. However, they were weapons modified exclusively for firing training ammunition (the barrel was fitted with a bulkhead to allow firing training ammunition in automatic mode).
The gun was very simple, reliable and easy to disassemble. After pressing the safety on the rear face, the whole breech housing and barrel swung out on a pivot at the front and the recoil spring and breech were pulled backwards. This completed the whole disassembly. It should be noted that it was for these reasons that it was very popular with training soldiers.

Diskuse

This submachine gun play in fimlu Oasis from the year 1972..

It's a pretty good movie, except that the director use this weapon in the film, from a historical point of view quite considerably ahead of time. The then period the submachine gun, which could, at least seemingly this gun remind, was an Italian Bereta vz.38 (in a limited number was also in the arsenal of the Wehrmacht, but also the units of the army of the then Slovak state)..

Well, they didn't have to imitate Beretta because they needed a French gun. I'd understand if they'd put an MP-40 in their hands. I think they took advantage of the fact that there were plenty of machine guns available in training. Actually, come to think of it, they had a vz. 37 machine gun on the truck, which is probably not the most common weapon in the Legion.

I think that the discussion about the movie doesn't belong here. In addition, at any given time a legion of machine guns used there were introduced rifles and generally older models, and machine guns. The legion generally not in the era of modern weaponry, on the colonies, it just wasn't needed. And just for the record, most of the submachine gun resembles the MP 41. The reason that it was available and shot this blind is probably correct, the filmmakers didn't do the renovation and at that time they could put into hand, in principle, just what was available for them in the studios.

And what is more important and certainly more to the point, the contribution from John Kamiše I like (I think the faktografický) but should have listed the source, which is mandatory for a few years. There's enough interesting things (like about the service in the PS) but without mentioning the source is just a "discussion post".

The information about this weapon are widely known and are publicly available both in the materials of the military history institute and in a number of other public sources, such as Encyclopedia of weapons fire .cz and under. For this reason, I did not consider it necessary here, these sources indicate and in the second place, from my side, actually it is a mere "discussion contribution", not some professional treatises.
Information about the classification of this interesting weapon at PS, it is my personal experience from the time of my PSO for this component in the years 1967-1969, when I myself was often used as a značkař to the imitation of the sharp shooting against reaching the border patrol and the service dogs in training and solutions to various model situations in guarding SH.
Submachine gun ČZ 247 was equipped with each border platoon in number of several pieces. Weapons were of course also available in various training centres for recruits, enlisted schools and facilities for the training of service dogs and dog handlers PS.
Even in the last year was on the website www.vojensko.cz in the section "historical photo PS" to see vintage photos from the first half of 70.years, that is, inter alia, member of the PS-handler equipped with this weapon. Today I tried to this photo again to search, but without success. Is there a flood of thousands of various other pictures and maybe I overlooked. It is also possible that it was for some reason withdrawn. If someone has managed to this photo search and put a link here, it will be great..

It is not about what is "widely known", it's about the fact that the inclusion of a contribution to the body of knowledge must be something substantiated, to the one who reads it to know where the information took. Therefore, to assess the relevance of the information. it should be you, or it seems to me as self-evident and familiar doesn't mean anything, they read it even people who are certainly known to consider they, and you if want to use it, you must have the opportunity to check it out. Just because it's familiar, it shouldn't be a problem substantiate this source. It's so customary, so it's not a total deal with. As the source of around PS you can of course mention also "own experience of time services in PS".
