The design of this armoured vehicle was based on the French Army's 1927 requirements for a new armoured car. The vehicle was based on the original unsuccessful Panhard 20 CV prototype. The platform was the chassis of a civilian Panhard 20 CV truck. On the chassis, a superstructure of armoured plates with a maximum thickness of 9 mm was created. On the superstructure was placed a riveted turret with a rifled 37 mm SA 18 gun and a coaxially rifled MAC 31 machine gun of 7.5 mm calibre. The machines first operated in units in France, later being sent to North Africa (Morocco/Algeria). The units known to me that had them in their armament were 1erREI (Régiment Étranger d'Infanterie) and 4e[/supaa]REI. The 1er REI also included a modified radio version of the Panhard 165/175 TOE TSF. These machines survived in colonial units until the 1940s/1950s.
