Hello, while searching for the fallen from our village I came across this in the list of casualties " Belan Karl, Lstlnfst., IR. Nr. 32, Ungarn, Lipto, Szentmihaly, 1896; gefallen (18./3.1916)" can anyone tell me what regiment he was in and where he had a supplementary district?I can't find anything about him.thank you

Well, the abbreviation LstInfst. is the designation of a soldier - Landsturminfanterist or infantryman-domobrancier. These were the older gentlemen who were the last to enlist and, depending on their health (and whether they had had any military training beforehand), were assigned to military units of all kinds... in this case, the regular army (Heer) infantry regiment no. 32 (if the abbreviation IR. Nr. 32 is correctly spelled) If he served in one of the Landsturm units, the regiment number would look different - LstIR Nr. 32 (coincidentally, it also existed, and it was in the 106th Home Guard Division). So get it 
Home Guard regiments No. 32 were of course two - one Landsturm (pre-Lithuanian) - from Nowe Sącz and one népfokelés (Zalitavian) - from Dess. But that wouldn't have been written in the IR in my opinion. No. 32.

Hmm. That's interestingly mixed up.The 32nd supplementary district should be Budapest, but Liptov county was under the 67th Prešov district. I think the abbreviation implies that it was a joint army.

My grandmother's brother's casualty list has the abbreviation: LstInfst. IR.Nr.35,8.Komp. He was in 1915 and was 19 years old. So he was not an older gentleman and did not serve long.
