The submachine gun constructed by Paul Király had a split breech with a delayed opening by means of grooves in the breech holder. The long, wooden stock lent him the appearance of a carbine. The magazine, which was, together with the handle, designed as a forearm towards the forearm, served as a safety element during transport. The hopper shaft was automatically covered by a cover. In small quantities, there was also a version designed for airborne units, called 39/A M, with a stock consisting of two parts for easier transport. A total of 8,000 pieces were produced from this production-intensive weapon.
