122 mm cannon vz. 31/37[/baa] formed the armament of the army artillery and was designed :
- to fight enemy artillery,
- to silence distant targets,
- ...to take out fortresses and massive pillboxes,
- to fight tanks and armoured trains,
- to destroy balloons.

The gun was transported behind a towing vehicle (a special tracked tractor D-350 MAZUR or a truck Tatra 111, Tatra 138). Ammunition and a set of spare and equipment parts, tools and accessories were carried on towing vehicles, some of the accessories being mounted on lafette arms.

Three variants of the 122 m K vz.31/37 were used in the CSRL:
- 122 mm K vz.31/37,
- an adapted 122 mm K vz.31/37,
- 122 mm K vz.31/37 R ( reconstructed).

The gun consists of :
- Barrel,
- the gun,
- wheel ( common for both 152 mm KH vz.37 and 122 mm K vz.31/37),
- barrel carriage (common to both 152 mm KH vz.37 and 122 mm K vz.31/37 ),

Barrel - two types were used : the monobloc barrel and the barrel with self-supporting muzzle.

The Lafette consists of :
- Cradle, with braking device,
- top pawl,
- rudders and measuring handlebars ,
- balancing mechanism with protective shields,
- lower halyard with two halyard arms with landing gear,
- a halyard shield ,
- sights ( 2 types : sight with independent sight and sight with semi-independent sight), gun sight.

The Wheeled is designed to transport the cannon. In the marching position, the wheelbarrow and the laffette form a four-wheeled chariot and attach to the towing vehicle. The wheels of the wheelbarrow had so-called "solid" tires - hoops with spongy rubber.
The barrel wagon is designed to remove the barrel from the laffle when repairing the cannon. One barrel carriage was for 12 guns.
Ammunition

Split shot ammunition was used - ammunition that reloads twice ( full shot).
Such ammunition is folded:
(a) a round with a bursting charge and an igniter,
(b) a cartridge with a live powder charge, a firing pin and ancillary components ( i.e. a live cartridge).
The cartridges as noted were split, there were four charges in the cartridge (base, 1,2,3) and the primer of the grenade had settings (fragmenting, bursting, and delayed). Fragmentary against a live force, bursting with a slight delay to penetrate walls and explode inside an object, delayed to fire by bouncing at a low angle of fire in front of the enemy's trenches - the projectile should have exploded over the trench after the bounce. In shooting it was allowed to use ammunition of both Czechoslovak and Soviet manufacture.

122mm cannon vz. 31/37 R (R - reconstructed).
Even after modification to tapered bearings, the A 19 cannon's receiver design allowed a top marching speed of 60 km/h (60 mph). The reconstruction of the 122mm K vz.31/37 is a speed increase solved by the use of self-supporting SO hoops, which allow these marching speeds :
- Class I roads : max. 80 km/h
- dirt roads : max. 50 km/h.
- off-road : max. 12 km/h.
SO type hoops also allow driving without air ( in the event of a bullet etc. ) at a top speed of 50 km/h. for a distance of 100 km without damaging the tyres.

Some admin photos from Mud 2003
It is worth noting how in the marching position the overall length of the vehicle was reduced by moving the barrel back and attaching it to the support arms, In the firing position it was moved forward to allow normal operation of the braking device

After moving the barrel to the firing position, using the long rod attached to the breech (there was a thread inside), disconnecting the wheel and extending the support arms, it was necessary to drive two riving knives into each of them (such trapezoidal irons...you can see them on the sides of the arms). It went in the ground badly and out even worse Confused The "Cannon to Fight" action was one of the favorite "pastimes" of the operators that brought something out Crying or Very sad

And from the other side
Above the wheel you can see the rod for moving the barrel to the firing position (about 1.5 m forward). After the command "gun to fight" the operator had 35 seconds to do it

Exercise 332nd Cannon Artillery Brigade Jičín: And this is how it ended when the operator did not properly secure the barrel when disconnecting the wheel. After lowering the weapon onto the support arms, the barrel slid down to the ground and due to its weight, the operator sweated a lot on his shirts while lifting it Wink

Ti vzadu si to zjednodušili a nechali kola v barvě gumy.
