LMV STAR V
The LMV STAR V is designed to protect convoys of vehicles from explosive ordnance disposal systems (EOD, RCIED), protect VIP vehicles from EOD or protect buildings and premises from EOD. The asset is based on the IVECO M65E19WM LMV.
The basic purpose equipment of the vehicle consists of: - STAR V RF signal jammer, - portable STAR MANPACK jammer, - NS 3 kW charging unit [Č-NSD 3-S28,5-2V], - Harris radio (AN/VRC 110 [vehicle version AN/PRC-152]), - VICM 200 digital internal communications equipment, - auxiliary driving lights, - additional beacon, - personal radios, - ruggedized laptop computer, - observation device.
STAR V (STAvebnicový Rušič) The STAR V protective modular jammer is designed to protect convoys and VIP vehicles from the activation of radio frequency detonated explosive systems (NVS, RCIED). The jammer prevents the possibility of RCIED activation or significantly limits the distance from which the charge can be activated. It can also be used to jam radio communication systems during special forces operations. Jamming is performed by sweeping across several frequency sub-bands at the same time (Digital Multisweep - DDS technology). The jammer allows the creation of communication channels (windows) for own radio assets in one of the frequency subbands. The power is divided in the frequency band into several sub-bands. By using multiple subsystems, higher jamming efficiency is achieved. The jammer is designed as a modular digitally controlled system, which is open with the possibility of interchanging individual transmitting subsystems according to the intended mission. It is designed to be integrated into an SUV. The jammer antennas are designed for installation on the roof of the vehicle body. The cooling of the jammer is provided by ventilation from the interior of the body. Power supply (in case of installation in LMV) is provided by a separate NS 3 kW charging unit [Č-NSD 3-S28,5-2V], which consists of a Ruggerini R.Y.100 combustion engine, generator, switchboard with regulator, three-way valve and tubular frame. The quality of the output energy meets the requirements of STANAG 4134.
Technical parameters of the STAR protective interrupter variant V Operating frequency range: VHF, UKV, GSM, DCS, UMTS, WiFi Output impedance: 50 Ω Load matching: PSV ≤ 3.5 @ PN - 0.5dB Output protection of RF amplifiers: output circulator PSV = 00
Total output power: 740 W Interference signal type: Digital Multisweep Antennas: omnidirectional -3 to 9 dBi depending on band
Operating temperature range of the jammer: -10°C to 50°C Operating temperature range of antennas and antenna cables: -40°C to +85°C Storage temperature range: -40° to +85° C Relative humidity: up to 95% (non-condensing) Interrupter power supply: 28 V DC (22 to 30 V DC to external inverter) Power: 2600 W @ 28VDC Disturber weight: 90 kg
STAR MANPACK The STAR MANPACK protective modular jammer is designed to protect against the activation of radio detonated explosive ordnance systems (NVS-RCIED). The jammer prevents the possibility of RCIED activation or significantly limits the distance from which the charge can be activated. It is used either for the protection of individuals, bomb disposal teams or special forces. STAR MANPACK is a modular system with a carrier unit that includes a power pack and a control module. Up to 2 broadband mutually independent transmitting modules (exciter, amplifier, antenna) can be inserted in the carrier unit. A total of 4 modules with a minimum transmit power of 20 W are available. The system is equipped with omnidirectional antennas. Each of the modules has its own antenna. The jammer is carried on straps. The jamming itself is performed by spreading over several frequency subbands at the same time. In all bands, the exciters operate in "Digital Multisweep" mode so that only selected frequencies can be jammed. The jammer can also be used for vehicle protection. In this case, the power supply is provided by the vehicle's on-board power supply (12/24V). The antennas can be attached to the body of the protected vehicle using special magnetic antenna mounts. The jammer can also be supplemented with more efficient antennas for installation on the roof of the vehicle. The jammer is characterised by simple operation and easy fault diagnosis. The operator can switch the system and individual transmitter modules on/off. The system indicates operating parameters and fault conditions visually and acoustically (can be switched off). The power supply is provided by a built-in 27 V Li-Fe battery or the vehicle's on-board power supply.

The IVECO LMV with the STAR V jammer was officially put into service by the Czech Army on 10 April 2010. For the needs of the Czech army, two vehicles were delivered to the 532nd Electronic Warfare Battalion. Since the beginning of 2011, one LMV STAR V has been deployed in Afghanistan with the PRT (Provincial Reconstruction Team) operating in Logar province.
