Pindad - interesting project of modernization of Armored Floating Vehicle
In the 1960s, the Soviet Union exported PT-76M floating tanks and BTR-50P and PM transporters to Indonesia, which are still in use today. Now the Indonesian military has decided to modernize these well-maintained but obsolete transporters. She reportedly called on two local companies to work together to modernize. The design offices of the companies Pindad (an armory from Bandung) and PAL Indonesia (an engineering concern in Surabaya and Jakarta) were to cooperate on the task.

Nothing is known that the cooperation of the mentioned companies took place. On the contrary, all indications are that Pindad and PAL Indonesia handled prototype development independently.

We know even less about the Pindad modernization project than about the version of PAL Indonesia . One is certain that only one depiction of the BTR-50P upgrade attributed to Pindad is known. We assume that the photo was first published on the Internet at the end of 2009.
