PAL-AFV (Armored Floating Vehicle)
In the 1960s, the Soviet Union exported PT-76M floating tanks and BTR-50PM transporters to Indonesia, which are still in use today. Now the Indonesian military has decided to modernize these well-maintained but obsolete transporters. She reportedly called on two local companies to work together to modernize. The design offices of the companies Pindad (an armory from Bandung) and PAL Indonesia (an engineering concern in Surabaya and Jakarta) were to cooperate on the task.
A model of the transporter with the inscription PAL-AFV was exhibited at the international exhibition of armaments technology: Indo Defense 2008. From the years 2008 and 2009, three photographs are known, which look very similar to the mentioned model. This would mean that the companies did not agree and each went its own way in modernizing the Soviet transporters.
