Comandante en Jefe de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile (5.11. 2010- )
Gen. Rojas began his studies at the Air Force School of Capt. Manuel Ávalos Prado (Escuela de Aviación del Capitán Manuel Ávalos Prado) as a cadet in 1969.
On January 1, 1974, he is awarded the rank of second lieutenant and adopts his combat nickname Robot.
During his career, he flew more than 3,500 flight hours in various combat aircraft. Jorge Rochas Ávila subsequently enrolls in the Chilean Air Force Military Academy (Academía de Guerra Aérea de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile), where he later heads the Logistics Department.
From 1995 to 1996, he becomes commander of the 8th Air Force Group (Grupo de Aviación Nº 8), based in Antofagasta, being the first commander of an air unit in Chile to use the Mirage Elkan aircraft that had just been received.
In 1999, already as an Air Force Colonel, he is appointed commander of the Capt. Manuel Ávalos Prado. After finishing in this post, he becomes the military air attaché at the Embassy of Chile in France.
In 2002, he is promoted to Brigadier General and is given command of the I Air Brigade and then, in 2003, of the V Air Brigade. These units are the largest and most important units in the Chilean Air Force.
2004 he is appointed Commander of Air Operations. In 2005 he is appointed General of the Air Force and receives under his command the Combat Operations Command and in 2009 the Logistics Command.
On October 8, 2010, he is authorized to assume command of the Chilean Air Force as Commander-in-Chief and assumes the post on November 5, 2010. source es.wikipedia.org latercera.com www.lanacion.cl
