TMM-1

The TMM-1 light tank project was developed together with TMM-2 at the Faculty of Motorization and Mechanization of the Military-Technical Academy of Djerzhinsky in 1931.

It was a Soviet design tank Vickers-Armstrong 6t MarkE, model A, for which a factory was built in Stalingrad (STZ ) with a planned capacity of up to 13 000 tanks and tracked vehicles per year. The production of the prototype was undertaken by the Leningrad plant Bolshevik, where Vickers VAT number 217, delivered from England at the beginning of 1931, had already been dismantled. The Hercules car engine, transmission and electrical equipment against the pattern increase by one man. The two-tower concept remained the same with two machine guns, one DT machine gun was added to the hull. The armor was riveted to the angles. The fuel tank was located to the left of the engine. The prototype was completed in September 1932.

The tests took place in the fall of the same year, and the TMM-1 did not do well. The vehicle had overall worse driving characteristics than the Vickers, lower speed, engine and transmission suffered from overheating and oil and coolant leaks. Due to poor workshop processing, the tank tended to "rivet" in the rugged terrain. The project was terminated in December 1932 in favor of T-26-1931.
