It is one of the most important and archaeologically nejprobádanějších settlements of Great Moravia. The archaeological researches carried out here, the department of archaeology of the philosophical faculty of Masaryk university. Research taking place here since the year 1959, started with them prof. František Kalousek, his successor was Bořivoj True. The oldest settlement here places to 6. century, when there was a non-reimbursed settlement, the here lasted until the 8th century. This settlement was later replaced by velkomoravským castle, which is divided into several parts. In the central part of the area of 27 ha, ohrazenou wooden-loamy wall, with the front stone screen of a length of 1950 m, there was a princely court. This prince's court was probably conceived on the way to the palatinate, to this belonged also the background and craft area. In the context of this areola was detected even celokamenný church. He had in the second construction phase extended the nartex. It was also uncovered at 400 graves, of which were some very richly decorated, which testifies, that here pohřbívané persons belonged to privileged persons living in the court. In contrast, in the sídlištním environment, of the acquired archaeological finds practically does not manifest itself from a higher social status. The areola was surrounded by a palisade approximately square plan. This was an even smaller enclosure, which had probably the iconic character (the emergence of protections is put into 1. item 9. cent.). Even if this enclosure there was inserted the above-mentioned church. Later there was a change protections, when it was extended the length of the stockade at 100 m. the Termination enclosure is placed into a 80. up to 90. years 9. century (Unger 2008, 43-44).
However, until 2008, there were no other sacred building. Which contrasted with Mikulčicemi or the Old Town - Hungarian Fort. In that year he found the church - rotunda with an apse, mixed wood-aluminium stone construction. From us well-known churches of Great Moravia, has the simplest architectural design. Even in his near occurred the discovery of the burial site.
Another interesting finding indicative of kontinuování settlement even after the demise of Great Moravia the year 907 (with the fact that today researchers are inclined up to about 30-year-old to gradual disappearance of this empire, or rather their remnants), is the discovery of a pagan cult site.
Area then rather wasn't inhabited, which would protect especially the stone remains of buildings, which are located here. Up to the beginning of the 19th. century here he was exposed to the hunting lodge. The one used as the path of the upper part of the mound, this road is to this day after appropriate modernization is used. In contrast, the mansion is used as a museum on the right here is located the fort. 30. years of the 20th. century, there were built objects čs. light fortification..

2. church

So far there have been archaeologists found 2 churches. Which is relatively low in comparison with Mikulčicemi or the Old Town - Hungarian Fort. It has long been known only to the first church, the existence of the other archaeologists have eluded, even if they waited another church/churches. The church marked as "other", was eventually found relatively recently. This is a type of rotunda with apse. Their construction making them as great moravian, the church very special - it is a mixed construction of wooden-hliněno-stone. It is, therefore, on the "great moravian ratios" atypical construction with its design and the construction implementation of a completely different church than the church first. It is considered that the church originated at the time of the decline of Great Moravia. Therefore, was his design of the "immature". Approximately at the same time then should rise to even a pagan cult object in another place hradiště. Around the church revealed the burial place..
