Poznámka:
Note:
- Celkem byly postaveny dva prototypy, oba havarovaly, první prototyp havaroval pravděpodobně pro nedostatečné množství kyslíku pro pilota a druhý prototyp měl závadu na motoru.
- Šéfkonstruktér Bo Lundberg navrhl z hlediska výroby i údržby velmi jednoduchou konstrukci.
J 22A měl dva kulomety ráže 13,2 mm a dva ráže 7,9 mm
Total were produced a two prototypes. Both protypes crashed, one probably due to oxygen starvation of the pilot, the other due to engine failure during landing.
The production programme involved over 500 sub-contractors, hardly any with experience of aircraft construction. Bo Lundberg had as a primary objective simplicity of manufacture and in this he succeeded.
Two versions of the J 22 were built, these differing only in armament: the J 22A had two 0.31in machine-guns and two 0.52in machine-guns and the J 22B four 0.52in machine-guns.
The J 22 was well liked by its pilots and possessed good manoeuvrability and responsive controls. Because of its simple systems the J 22 was very easy to maintain and service.

FFVS J-22

- It was a medium-wing single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft with a fully retractable aft-type landing gear.

- The fuselage consisted of a fuselage welded from thin-walled steel tubes, which was covered with birch plywood panels. The two-beam wing was of the same construction. The ailerons were covered with canvas. The same was used for the tail surfaces. The cockpit was completely covered by a transparent overlay that folded to the right. The landing gear legs were anchored to the fuselage. The advantage of this solution was to simplify and lighten the wing. The disadvantage was the small gauge, which reduced the stability of the aircraft during taxiing, take-off and landing.

- The powerplant of the aircraft was provided by a Pratt and Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp twin fourteen-cylinder engine with an output of 1,065 hp. The Swedes did not have a license for the Twin Wasp, but they produced it throughout the war. The settlement with the American manufacturer came after the war.

- The armament of the aircraft was located in the wings and all guns fired outside the propeller radius. In the A version, the gunnery armament consisted of a combination of two Madsen M/22F machine guns of 7.9 mm calibre and two M/39A machine guns of 13.2 mm calibre, one 7.9 and one 13.2 in each wing. In the B version, the calibre of the machine guns was unified, so that in this version the aircraft had a total of four M/39A machine guns of 13.2 mm calibre, two in each wing.

Švédské stíhací letouny J-22 nesly standardní kamufláž, tvořenou tmavě zeleným odstínem na horních a bočních plochách a světle šedým na spodních. Výsostné znaky jsou obvyklého typu. Zobrazený stroj patřil do stavu křídla F10. Na přídi se nachází emblém jednotky — erb s hlavou mýtické nestvůry Grippena.
