Originally a German merchant steamer, SS Aenne Rickmers (Rickmers Line / Rickmers Reismühlen, Rhederei & Schiffbau AG, Bremen) seized by the British Navy at Port Said at the beginning of World War I on 4 August 1914.
Converted to a seaplane carrier in November 1914 (?) and used by the Allies in the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean from January 1915. It was originally to be loaned to the French for patrolling off the Syrian coast.
On 11 March 1915 she was badly damaged by a Turkish torpedo, and was repaired until June 1915.
Officially commissioned into the Royal Navy on 5 August 1915.
On 6 August 1915 renamed HMS Anne.
She was decommissioned from the Royal Navy on 8 August 1917.
In January 1918 sold for civilian service.
In 1939 renamed Ithaki and in service that same year with Wallem & Co. Ltd. to Moldova.
In 1954 it was renamed Jagrahat, but the following year it was again named Moldova.
From September 1958 scrapped in Hong Kong.
