KS-1 Comet ( & # 1050; & # 1086; & # 1084; & # 1077; & # 1090; & # 1072; & # 1050; & # 1057; (& # 1050; & # 1057; -1)) (NATO code: AS-1 Kennel) is a subsonic air-surface winged rocket, powered by an RD-500 jet engine. Limited use also against ground targets.

The development of missiles probably began in 1951, production and testing in 1953, put into operational use in 1956. The public were first introduced in 1961.
The missile has a range in the range of 35-97 nm (64.8-179 km). The weight of the rocket reaches 2735 kg, of which the conventional warhead weighs 916 kg. The missile is guided by a programmable autopilot (initial phase of flight), guidance into the target area is provided by remote control and in the final phase of flight by a semi-active radar. The mean deviation in the target is about 46 m when attacking the ship and 1850 m when attacking the ground target. The missiles were used on bombers Tu-16KS Badger-B, which carried a pair of these missiles on the wing hangers.

A variant of the KS-1 missile intended for launching from ground launchers are missiles in the NATO code referred to as SSC-2a "SALISH" and SSC-2b SAMLET.
