In 1942, the company Rheinmetall Borsig won a contract to develop a tower for a special modification of the tank Panther designed for artillery observation and guidance vehicle. Several proposals were made, the third concept was chosen, which was drawn on the drawing H-SkB 79557 dated 10-11.11.1942. It was a modified tower from the classic Panther version Ausf.D. A 5 cm K.w.K tank cannon was to be mounted in the front armor in the tower. 39/1 and coupled machine gun. The cannon was to protect the shield "Topfblende". Artillery observation equipment included instruments T.B.F. 2, T.S.R. 1 and optical rangefinder. The machine had a modified cylindrical command tower with seven observation periscopes. The project in this form was not completed in prototype form, modified project was further developed by the company Rheinmetall.
