He was born 12.07.1909 in Neu Lubnitz, as a son of a policeman, 1928 volunteer in Inf.Rgt. 4 in Vienna, after a year admitted to the military academy, 1932 lieutenant and platoon commander in Inf.Rgt. 3, 1937 lieutenant and adjutant in Alp.Jäger.Rgt. 8 a year later in Inf.Rgt. 113. intelligence officer. thanks to the leadership of the intelligence replenishment detachment no deployment in Poland, 1940 proved himself in France as company commander of 11./Gren.Rgt. 548. in winter 1940 promoted to captain. After his first months in Russia he took command of III Battalion. the battles of Lvov, Poltava and Kharkov. Both degrees of the Iron Cross, wounded twice. 03/1942 as major again at the front. 07/1942 at Kalach again wounded so avoided through treatment the destruction of 100. JD at Stalingrad. In spring 1943, when the division was rebuilt, he again took the position of battalion commander. Deployment against partisans in the Balkans. 01/1944 commander of III./Gren.Rgt. 549 in the 306th Infantry Division, defensive fighting at Nikopol. For great successes in defense and retreat fighting as acting commander of Gren.Rgt. 579 awarded the Knight's Cross 09.06.1944. After the fourth wound (08/1944) in the army lesaret in Bucharest, here he fell into captivity during the Romanian change of sides. Return from captivity 1948. 1956 major in the Austrian Federal Army in the staff of the 9th. 1963 colonel, a year later head of the Army NCO school Enns. 07.08.1970 died in Linz after an operation.
