Militanti v sobotu podnikli rozsiahly útok na konvoj Svetového potravinového programu OSN v západnej provincii Faráh. Zabili pritom troch amerických a siedmich afganských vojakov, ktorí konvoj sprevádzali. V priebehu následných štvorhodinových bojov, do ktorých sa zapojilo aj koaličné letectvo, boli zabité desiatky povstalcov. Guvernér stanovil počet obetí na približne 50.
