He was born on July 19, 1921 in Oberlangenau in Czechoslovakia as the son of a locksmith, trained as a typewriter, then worked in a paper factory, after the outbreak of war he signed up for SS weapons. He underwent Western and the introduction of the Russian campaign as a truck driver, later a gunner and team leader in the SS Germania Regiment. He received the Knight's Cross as Unterscharführer and platoon commander in the 3rd Company on 10/16/1944. Franz has been reported missing in Bohemia since 05.1945. In 1959, eyewitnesses reported that he was taken prisoner and then shot dead by Czech guerrillas in the Jungbuch POW camp in June 1945.
